Thousands of people gathered in Beirut on Sunday to attend the funeral of Hezbollah’s former leader nearly five months after he was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital.

Hassan Nasrallah was killed when Israel’s air force  bombed the militant group’s main operations room.
Ahead of his funeral Israel carried out raids on southern Lebanon. The IDF said they targeted Hezbollah sites containing rocket launchers and other weapons, and additional rocket launchers threatening Israeli civilians.
Those expected to attend the funeral included Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Lebanese officials, including the parliament speaker and representatives of the president and prime minister were also expected.
