Actress Susan Sarandon has been dropped by her agency after a speech she made at a rally downplaying rising antisemitism in the USA.
According to a statement from the talent agency United Talent Agency first reported by Deadline, Sarandon's agent has terminated their relationship with the star.
UTA, whose CEO Jeremy Zimmer is Jewish, has worked with Sarandon since 2014.
At an anti-Israel rally last weekend, Sarandon said: “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.”
Former Israeli diplomat Aviva Klompas condemned Sarandon's remarks saying in a post on Twitter/X: “When Susan Sarandon said that Jews ‘are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country’ she was saying that American Jews have it coming — that we don’t deserve to live free from harassment and assault.”
