There were tears on the campus of Ben Gurion University of the Negev after it lost a second student in a tragedy in Nepal in less than a fortnight.
Last week, student Tamar Ariel was buried after dying in a blizzard in the Annapurna region.
Days later, recent medical graduate Shira Dabus, 30, died in an unconnected incident in Nepal - a bus crash.
Another Israeli woman, 22-year-old Omer Shemesh, also died in the crash about 30 miles west of the capital, Kathmandu. Their bus veered off a mountain road and fell 50m.
Ms Shemesh was an art student who, during her recent military service, had been an air force commander.
Dr Dabus worked at a hospital in Afula, and was said to have touched the lives of many.
"She was an exceptional medical student, a classical musician and a community-minded student," said Faye Bittker, media relations director at the Ben Gurion University.
Meir Reuveni, dean of faculty of health sciences, described her as an "amazing young woman and exceptional in her qualities".
Ms Shemesh's boyfriend, Eyal Ankur, wrote about her: "My beautiful partner, my best friend, my soulmate. I want to wake up from this horrible nightmare and have you be back here with me."
