Saudis can acquire Pakistani nukes, BBC says

articlemain

Saudi Arabia has done a deal with Pakistan which will enable it to acquire nuclear weapons, according to a BBC Newsnight report.

It quotes former head of Israeli intelligence Amos Yadlin as saying “The Saudis will not wait one month. They already paid for the bomb, they will go to Pakistan and bring what they need to bring."

Newsnight diplomatic and defence editor Mark Urban says he was told by a senior Nato official that Pakistani-made nuclear weapons were available to the Saudis.

Gary Samore, President Barack Obama’s counter-proliferation adviser, is also quoted as saying: “I do think that the Saudis believe that they have some understanding with Pakistan that, in extremis, they would have claim to acquire nuclear weapons from Pakistan.”
