Sex and the City actress Kristin Davis is an unlikely champion of Israel, even if her character Charlotte did convert to Judaism in the hit series.

But reports claim the actress, 44, has taken a break from her role as an ambassador for Oxfam International because of her endorsement of Ahava cosmetics, which is manufactured by Dead Sea Cosmetics in the Mitzhe Shalem West Bank settlement.

Oxfam are reported to have said there was conflict of interest because the cosmetics are manufactured in “disputed territory.”

In a statement to the New York Post, Oxfam said, "Kristin Davis has done great work for Oxfam and we highly value her commitment as a supporter.

But they added: “Oxfam remains opposed to settlement trade, in which Ahava is engaged. Both Kristin and Oxfam do not want this issue to detract from the great work we have done in the past and plan to do in the future."
The “Stolen Beauty” campaign to boycott Akava has come from US feminist activist group CODEPink.

A spokeswoman for Ms Davis said: "Kristin is passionate about her relationship with Oxfam, and she intends to work with them and other humanitarian causes for years to come."

Ahava made no comment on the issue.
