Sir Paul McCartney has married Jewish New Yorker Nancy Shevell.

The couple, who have been together for four years, tied the knot at Marylebone register office on Sunday in the presence of 30 friends, including Ringo Starr and Sir Paul's designer daughter, Stella McCartney, who made the bride's dress.

The ceremony was held at the same place where he married his first Jewish wife, Linda Eastman, in 1969 and the date coincided with what would have been John Lennon's 71st birthday.

More guests, among them Tracey Emin and Kate Moss, were then invited to a vegetarian-only party at Sir Paul's St John's Wood home. Mark Ronson was the DJ, while the groom sang a song composed in honour of his wife as well as the Beatles classic Let it Be.
