Daniele Hoffman-Rispal, a National Assembly of France member representing Paris, told the JC that she does not “feel problems” of antisemitism in France.
The president of France-Israel, who is Jewish, said France was “not more antisemitic than anywhere else”.
She denied that French Jews were making aliyah en masse to escape antisemitism, despite 3,120 members of the community making the move last year – a 63 per cent increase compared to the 1,916 in 2012.
Ms Rispal, who attended a Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony with the Israeli Knesset in Auschwitz last week, welcomed the decision to ban a show by antisemitic French comedian Dieudonne M’bala M’bala. “My government made a good decision about him,” she said.
