Palestinian terror groups 'can't pay monthly bills' after Iran stops funding

It was claimed that the money from Iran was used to pay salaries to leaders and members, as well as cover the cost of "various activities".

Hamas and PIJ officials have previously said that Iran has given them military and financial support, the Jerusalem Post reports.

The sources said that the financial crisis was impacting the factions both in the Gaza Strip, abroad, and Palestinian media outlets, which has left some unable to pay electricity bills, among other expenses.

The news comes after Iran executed a man last night by hanging from a crane following nationwide anti-regime protests, sparked on 16 September following the killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by Iran's morality police.

A PIJ source in the Gaza Strip told the Al-Monitor news website recently that the group's leadership was worried that the ongoing protests would affect support for Palestinian terror groups: “We are concerned the protests will also affect the future of Iran's financial and military support."
