Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi, who became an instantly recognisable protest icon after she was filmed slapping an Israeli soldier in the West Bank, is to be released from prison this week.
The 17-year-old has been in prison since her arrest on December 19 last year. She was charged in an Israeli military court on twelve counts of violence and incitement.
She was sentenced in March to eight months in prison after reaching a plea deal, under which she pleaded guilty to four counts of assault and accepted a fine of 5,000 shekels (£1,040).
Footage of Ms Tamimi slapping a soldier in the West Bank caused an internet sensation at the end of last year.
The soldiers were not shown to respond to her actions, leading some to applaud their restraint. But others attacked the use of a military court to hear the case of a minor.
Ahed Tamimi's family said on Thursday that she would be released this Sunday.
