The Golden Globe-nominated actress Mila Kunis has agreed to accompany an American soldier to a ball after he posted a video plea for a date with her on YouTube.
The Jewish star, who was born in the Soviet Union and moved to the US after the fall of Communism, has said she will attend a Marine Corps ball in November with Sgt Scott Moore.
Sgt Moore, who is serving in Afghanistan, posted the video invitation on the internet last month.
It has now attracted more than 184,000 hits.
In the clip, he said the 27-year-old actress could call him Scott and added: "Take a second, think about it and get back to me."
His campaign was aided by Justin Timberlake, Ms Kunis' co-star on the film Friends With Benefits, with whom she has been romantically linked.
During a Fox News interview he told her: "You need to do it for your country". The patriotic actress confirmed that she would.
