A kosher restaurant in Amsterdam was attacked by a man waving a Palestinian flag just hours Donald Trump’s announcement recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.
Footage broadcast by Dutch local TV station AT5 shows the man, who also appears to be wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh head covering, using a stick to strike the restaurant's window.
He seen aiming a series of kicks to smash his way through the glass door before briefly disappearing inside and emerging moments afterwards carrying an Israeli flag.
The man is subsequently restrained on the pavement by two police officers. Reinforcements arrive moments later as a crowd gathers to watch.
The attacker repeatedly shouted “Palestine” and “Allahu akbar” during the incident, AT5 reported.
Owner Daniël Baron told the station that five windows and a floor had been damaged. He said they were busy clearing up the damage but that they still planned to open to customers tonight.
Dutch police tweeted that a man had been arrested following Thursday morning’s incident at the restaurant and an investigation was underway.
