Kuwait bans 'Death on the Nile' because of Israeli actress Gal Gadot

The Kuwaiti government has announced that they are banning an Agatha Christie film from cinemas in the country because of the appearance of Israeli actress Gal Gadot in the movie.

Death on the Nile, a remake of the Agatha Christie classic directed by Kenneth Branagh, is set to be released in the UK later this week but millions of Kuwaitis will miss out after the country's information ministry banned the film from all cinemas in the Arab emirate.

The films of Gal Gadot have often attracted criticism across the Arab world, with several countries, including Lebanon, banning her 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman from their countries.

The production of Death on the Nile has been rocked by several scandals including allegations of sexual misconduct against co-star Armie Hammer which surfaced in 2021.

Kuwait's government hase been staunchly against normalising relations with Israel and currently refuses entry to anyone with a passport issued by Israel or with evidence of travel to the Jewish state.
