Israeli Eurovision singer forbidden from wearing Galliano

articlemain

Israel’s Eurovision contestant has been told she is not allowed to wear an outfit designed by John Galliano.

The French fashion designer “accepted the challenge” to create a dress for Israeli singer Moran Mazor, but the Israel Broadcast Authority has forbidden the deal.

The IBA, which will be sponsoring the contestant and broadcasting the contest, made the decision after Ms Mazor told Israeli news website Mako that her stylist “reached out to several international designers, among them John Galliano… he accepted the challenge of designing a dress."

Mr Galliano faced international scrutiny when he was arrested after making antisemitic remarks in 2011. He was subsequently fired from fashion house Christian Dior.

Ms Mazor is expected to sing ‘Rak bishvilo’ (Only for him), at this year’s Eurovision contest in Sweden in May.
