Investigation underway following bomb blast outside Israeli embassy in Delhi

A small bomb exploded near the Israeli embassy in Delhi, with no injuries reported.

The blast occurred shortly after 5pm on Friday and police quickly arrived at the scene to cordon off the area.

Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabi Ashkenazi, tweeted: “I spoke with my counterpart, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, following the explosion that took place a few hours ago near the Israeli embassy in Delhi.

“The Indian FM assured me that the Indian authorities are committed are committed to the security of all Israeli diplomatic staff and will continue to act resolutely to locate all those involved in the explosion. I thanked him and promised full cooperation and any help required from Israel.”

Meanwhile, one anonymous Israeli official told Reuters the embassy was treating the event as a terrorist attack.

Israel’s ambassador to India, Ron Malka, told India Today the mission is on high alert but that everyone in safe.

An investigation is underway.
