Two Jewish teenagers have been arrested after spray-painting “Death to Haman” on a building in Tehran ahead of Purim.

Police have not yet released the 17-year-old boys, despite being told it was a prank.

Shushan, where the Story of Esther took place, is traditionally understood to have been located where the city of Hamadan currently lies around 170 miles to the west of Tehran.

A national census in Iran in 2012 reported that there were just 8,756 Jews in a country of more than 77 million.
