Gwyneth Paltrow has said she thought of the families of the six Israeli hostages whose bodies were recovered from Gaza on Saturday every day since their kidnapping by Hamas.

Writing on Instagram to her nine million followers, she said she hoped the conflict in Gaza could be stopped.

The actress’s message came after several Israeli captives were revealed to have been murdered by Hamas shortly before Israeli forces reached them.

"To the families of each hostage whose life was stolen, I have thought of you every day for 11 months, but today I send you my heart,” she wrote. “#endtheviolence.”

Paltrow was raised by a Jewish father and Christian mother and celebrated both Christmas and Chanukah as a child.

Earlier this year, she condemned Hamas and its apologists, writing on social media: "Rape is not resistance or freedom fighting".

Paltrow was joined in expressing condolences for the murdered hostages by other celebraties and world leaders.

“They survived almost 11 months in captivity and then were murdered by Hamas,” Gal Gadot wrote.

"People who became an inseparable part of our hearts, families who waited so long for a different end, the heart is broken into pieces today. 101 more hostages still there #bringthemhomenow.”

Debra Messing, who starred in Will and Grace, posted a video in which she mourned the six Israelis killed while crying.

"The collective grief, the agony that comes with the news that Hersh and those five beautiful souls were executed ISIS style in the last two days is unbearable," she said.

In a statement, presidential candidate Kamala Harris said: “Hamas is an evil terrorist organisation. With these murders, Hamas has even more American blood on its hands. I strongly condemn Hamas’s continued brutality and so must the entire world.

"From its massacre of 1,200 people to sexual violence, taking of hostages, and these murders, Hamas’s depravity is evident and horrifying.”

Writing on Twitter/X, Keir Starmer said: “I am completely shocked at the horrific and senseless killing of six hostages in Gaza by Hamas. My thoughts are with their loved ones at this awful time.”
