The antisemitic French comedian at the centre of the row over Nicolas Anelka’s quenelle gesture has been questioned by police in France after allegedly assaulting a bailiff.
Reports say that Dieudonne M'Bala was involved in an incident after bailiffs arrived at his home to demand payment of unpaid fines.
One bailiff was allegedly assaulted by the comedian and targeted with rubber bullets. Investigators said a search of his home found a “bullet-launching device”.
Dieudonne went to a police station voluntarily to answer question. He filed a complaint against the bailiff for breaking into his home.
The comedian popularised the Nazi-style gesture which West Bromwich Albion footballer Anelka displayed during a Premier League match last month. At the time Anelka said that the gesture was a tribute Dieudonne.
