First, break bread: Palestinians, Israelis have peace-talks supper

articlemain

Peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders resume in Washington today.

On Monday evening, US Secretary of State John Kerry hosted a dinner for Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s envoy Yitzchak Molcho and two Palestinian negotiators, Saeb Erekat and Mohammad Shtayyeh.

Ms Livni told reporters: “The basic principle of the talks is that nothing is over until everything is over.”

“Though we all know each other and have all been in the room before, we are not continuing talks, we are beginning talks,” she said, “the fact that we are familiar with the other side and the issues only aids in the talks.”

Reportedly, all three parties will discuss the logistics and conditions of future peace negotiations in a meeting this morning.
