A Kickstarter campaign is to launch later this month to fund what is being claimed as the first Jewish comics magazine.

Maggid Comics has publisher various graphic books including Shabbos Tales and The Adventures of Levi Marcus: Wyatt Earp’s Gunsliging Nephew.

But the American enterprise hopes to provide a more regular outlet with its new monthly Maggid Magazine.

The company said in a statement posted by bleedingcool.com,  “We believe that pop culture serves as a catalyst for global thinking. Because of that, we must ensure that pop culture includes authentic and diverse representation of Jews and Judaism.”

Arnon Z. Shorr, editor-in-chief of Maggid Comics, said, “Jewish culture and history offer an incredibly diverse and compelling range of narratives that the world deserves to have access to and enjoy. Through Maggid Magazine, we aim to bridge the gap between Jewish heritage and the wider comic book community.”

The company’s website says that,  “Ever since a ragtag crowd of Hebrew slaves emerged from the Sea of Reeds, Jews have been telling stories. “
