Bow auction record

articlemain

A unique collection of more than 30 English Baroque instrument bows acquired by a German Jewish refugee couple has been sold for more than £100,000 by Brompton's Auctioneers. A rare ivory-mounted bow made by John Dodd more than 200 years ago was bought by an anonymous musician for more than £10,000 - a world record for one of Dodd's pieces.

The collection had been expected to fetch around £30,000.
