Darren Aronofsky is to become the next Hollywood filmmaker to bring social networking to the big screen.
The film, about the dangers of online romances, will be based on a script by Mark Heyman, who also wrote Mr Aronofsky's Academy award winning hit Black Swan.
According to Variety, the film will be called XOXO.
It has been dubbed "Fatal Attraction for the digital age" and will follow a young man who "discovers that his Internet romance is seeping into his actual life in a deadly way".
Although Black Swan was successful at last year's Oscars, it faced strong competition from The Social Network, which told the story of the creation of social networking site Facebook.
