Abu Dhabi could soon become a cholent hotspot after hotels in the Emirati capital were advised to serve kosher food and drinks options.
Hotel managers in the Gulf city were told to obtain kashrut certification and allocate a kitchen area for the preparation of kosher food, which should be labelled clearly on menus.
The advice came from the city’s culture and tourism department on Tuesday in the wake of a landmark deal between Israel and the UAE.
The Gulf state expects to welcome thousands of Jewish visitors each year, according to Ross Kriel who heads the Jewish Council of the Emirates.
He told the Times of Israel this week the move is “reflective of the many ways in which our lives in the UAE are being transformed […] since the Abraham Accord was announced.”
Israel and the UAE are to attend a signing ceremony at the White House next week.
