Lovers of the arts should head to Norwich next month for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival (NNF). That is the message from William Galinsky, the newly- appointed artistic director and chief executive of the festival.
Highlights at this year's 16-day event include the Grammy award-winning singer Mariza, the Kronsos Quartet and an evening with English poet Wendy Cope. There will also be the world's first opera for toddlers.
Leeds-born Mr Galinsky, 38, previously ran an arts festival in Cork, Ireland. He tells People: "Norwich suffers a bit from the Alan Partridge legacy but it is a great city for arts - a real gem. The ambition is to make the NNF into one of the biggest British arts festivals."
Mr Galinsky, who lives in Norwich, studied Russian and Czech at Oxford University. He says: "The history and geography of this stunning part of the world presents extraordinary possibilities for a festival."
