Kiddush clubs, those select groups of whisky-drinkers, are usually a male preserve. But when the club at St Johns' Wood Synagogue convenes, an invitation is always extended to Simone Klass.

The PR consultant (above), who is a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, is being honoured by the synagogue for her voluntary work this Shabbat and at a kiddush to celebrate afterwards, she will be doing the natural thing. "I will be putting on a table of single malt whiskies for the membership to enjoy because we love a good whisky," she said. "We are not blended people."
