Tamsin Greig and Simon Bird will be back filming on location in north London this summer, after a third series of the television comedy Friday Night Dinner was commissioned.

The series, which visits the Goodman family as they eat their Shabbat meal and follows them as they face awkward and often uncomfortable situations and deal with troublesome visitors, is written by Robert Popper.

Mr Popper, who has admitted occasionally drawing on his own family life in writing the series, is a Bafta-winning producer whose previous credits include Peep Show, Bo'Selecta and South Park.

"I'm so excited to be making a new series with such a fantastic cast once again. I really could not be happier," he said. "Well I could, if say, I'd taught crows how to speak and they, in turn, taught me how to fly."
