Chanukah music and doughnuts are coming to Vicarage Road next month as Watford prepares to host what it believes to be the Premier League’s first ever celebration of the Jewish festival of lights. Next month’s sold-out event is also the first event being organised by the club’s newly-formed Jewish Hornets supporters’ group. Taking to social media earlier this week, the supporters’ group said it would “love to see members of other groups to come, so we can work together on creating a more inclusive and tolerant society.” Israeli former player and Watford legend Ronny Rosenthal is set to make an appearance, as is the UK’s antisemitism adviser Lord John Mann, who will be a guest speaker.

Premier League newcomers Brentford hosted the league’s first pitch-side Succah earlier this year, with former Wimbledon striker Marcus Gayle among those who assembled the 8ft structure.

The event followed a similar initiative led by the Football Association at Wembley Stadium last year.
