Vince Cable has issued his first Chanukah message as Liberal Democrat leader.

Sir Vince said the festival was a story of "faith and hope".

He said the Jewish community displayed "strength and resilience" in the continued fight against antisemitism.

Sir Vince said: “As we usher in the long, dark nights of winter, so begins the Jewish festival of lights. Chanukah is a celebration of one of the greatest miracles in the Jewish history and for more than two millennia, Jews everywhere have celebrated the wonder of the lamp that miraculously burned for eight days.
