The FBI is looking into a business deal in Canada made by President Trump’s daughter and adviser, Ivanka, as part of checks to determine whether she should receive full security clearance.
The news station explained it was regular practice to ensure those receiving clearance were not susceptible to pressure from abroad.
According to CNN, a US official said the FBI was examining the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver.
Although the Trump Organisation does not own the building, it received $5 million [£3.6 million] in royalties from a Canadian development company owned by a wealthy Malaysian family.
