Nightingale Hammerson has been awarded a prestigious nursing gong for its contribution to social welfare.
The charity, which runs two London care homes, has received the Chief Nursing Officer for Adult Social Care Team Award for “outstanding services to social care”.
The charity, which has served the Jewish community since 1840, was recognised for the positive impact the Nightingale Hammerson staff had on the lives of the residents they care for.
Chief nurse for adult social care Professor Deborah Sturdy CBE described the Nightingale Hammerson team as “shining lights [who] stand tall amongst your peers”.
The award was an acknowledgement of the charity’s commitment to student placements, endorsed education programmes and a social care research programme, said its leaders.
Hammerson Nightingale’s chief executive, Jenny Pattinson, said: “Being recognised by the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care is a testament to the never-ending commitment our teams have to providing exceptional, compassionate care to residents, their families and friends and the teams that work within our homes and in the community.”
The charity’s co-chairs, Joanne Black and Paul Althasen, said: “This is an extraordinary tribute to our wonderful team at Nightingale Hammerson. This is, as you can imagine, a source of enormous pride to the trustees, who are so appreciative of the enormous efforts of our CEO and her team.”
Registered manager at Nightingale House, Clemence Muchingaguyo paid tribute to everyone working at the home. “From our gardener, carers, nurses, housekeeping, finance and the therapy team, right through to our receptionists and porters”, Muchingaguyo said every team member had a “great recognition and understanding of the holistic care needs of those who are in our care”.
“As you walk into our homes, it doesn’t take you long to witness how every team member demonstrates emotional resonance with the well-being of our residents. It’s exceptional. We go beyond compassionate care with a real desire and action to ensure residents live the highest quality of life,” she said.
