“Waite first came to CST’s attention due to several reasons,” they said, “including having shared material from the far-right proscribed terrorist group, National Action, and for posting extreme, antisemitic, racist, and often violent content”.
DCI Leanne Williams, head of investigations at Counter Terrorism Policing Wales said: “We welcome the sentence handed down by the court today”. “This concludes what was a detailed, thorough, and complex investigation over many months by officers from CTP Wales, assisted by colleagues in Dyfed Powys Police,” she continued.
After being flagged for antisemitism by the CST, Counter Terrorism Police uncovered further evidence of Waite’s extremism. Waite was also convicted of two counts of possessing a document containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
Waite had previously pleaded guilty to one offence of supporting a proscribed organisation – National Action. National Action, a neo-Nazi group established in 2013, was proscribed in 2016.
The Home Office described National Action as “virulently racist, antisemitic and homophobic”. The proscribed organisation promotes the idea that Britain “will inevitably see a violent ‘race war’, which the group claims it will be an active part of”.
