Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, Lord Peter Mandelson and BBC Panorama journalist John Ware are among the impressive line-up of speakers scheduled to appear at Sunday’s one-day conference being staged by the Jewish Labour Movement.
In the virtual event, which will feature more than 55 different sessions, Halie Soifer, Executive Director Jewish Democratic Council of America, will also be in conversation with JLM vice-chair Ruth Smeeth about the ramifications of Joe Biden’s election as US president.
Another highlight will be a conversation between former foreign secretary David Miliband and JC and Guardian journalist Jonathan Freedland.
Mike Katz, JLM National Chair, and Andrew Gilbert, JLM’s One Day Conference Chair, said: “This year’s conference line-up is our most impressive yet – and it shows the important place that Jewish Labour Movement holds in the British Jewish left that we’re hosting Keir Starmer, shadow front benchers, leading journalists and activists from the UK, Israel and America.”
The conference, for which tickets priced £10 can be purchased from JLM’s website, will also see current shadow foreign secretary Lisa Nandy interviewed by former senior Reform Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner.
Manchester Metro mayor Andy Burnham and MP Angela Rayner will discuss the community’s ‘second city.’
Wayne David MP, Shadow Minister for the Middle East, will discuss Labour’s approach to peace in the region with Steve McCabe MP, Chair Labour Friends of Israel.
The conference also features journalist and author Gabriel Pogrund in discussion with Lord Peter Mandelson in an event entitled “bedtime horror stories”.
