A former High Sheriff of Bedfordshire claimed that allegations of anti-Jewish hatred are a “red herring” created by “Zionists” who shed “crocodile tears of antisemitism”.

Nazir Jessa, who served as Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire between 2008 and 2016 and was High Sheriff in 2008 – a position appointed by the crown, posted on LinkedIn about Israel being an “apartheid racist state”.

In January, Jessa was appointed as a Liveryman in the City of London’s Historic Guilds, making him eligible to stand as Lord Mayor and vote in the election of the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of the city.

But the JC can reveal that Jessa sent an email to investigative outfit GnasherJew earlier this month, in which he wrote: “Stop shedding crocodile tears of antisemitism. People are tired of AS slogans. It's nothing but ‘red herring’ created by the Zionists.”
