Iran’s ambassador to the UK was summoned to the Foreign Office on Monday after a deadly attack on an Israeli-managed oil tanker last week.

Two people - a Briton and a Romanian - were killed during the attack on the MV Mercer Street off the coast of Oman last Thursday. The UK, United States and Israel have all blamed Tehran, which has denied responsibility and warned against any action in response.

The vessel is Japanese-owned but is operated by Israeli shipping magnate Eyal Ofer’s firm Zodiac Maritime.

Middle East Minister James Cleverly met with top Iranian diplomat Mohsen Baharvand on Monday.
