Matthew Gould, the former British ambassador to Israel, has been announced as the new chief executive of NHSX, a public body responsible for setting policy of data and tech for use in the health service.

Mr Gould was the UK’s envoy to the Jewish State between 2010 and 2015, and later served as the Government’s director of cyber security.

His latest role was director general for digital and media, within the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

 On Thursday he tweeted: “Excited to become the CEO of NHSX. I couldn’t ask for a more worthwhile challenge.

“We will have a single-minded focus on improving care, by giving staff and patients the tech they need.”

As reported by Digital Health News, NHSX has been charged with setting the national strategy for cyber policy, as well as supporting the use of new technologies.

It is a joint initiative between the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England.
