Two prominent pro-Israel campaigners have announced they will make aliyah by the end of the year due to fears of rising antisemitism in Britain.

Mark Lewis, who made headlines earlier this year by blocking the Al Quds Day march with his wheelchair, told the JC he and his partner, Mandy Blumenthal have noticed a “drip-drip” increase of Jew-hate on social media.

Mr Lewis, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, claimed to have received emailed death threats in recent years, as well as messages mocking his disability.

He said: “I don’t think there will be another Holocaust, or gas chambers, but it has become more and more unpleasant for Jews in this country.

“I don’t see Jeremy Corbyn as a future threat to Jews. You see more antisemites have crawled out recently, and they won’t go away quickly.”

Mr Lewis, a well-known solicitor who helped to expose the phone-hacking of Milly Dowler, said he would continue to practise law in the UK, and go between the two countries for work.

He and Ms Blumenthal aim to find a flat, most likely in Eilat, and move there in December.
