Joshua Cohen was accused of the murders of his mother and sister last year

A Golders Green man who is accused of killing his mother and sister has been deemed mentally unfit to stand trial.

Earlier this month, Joshua Cohen, 28, was charged with the murder of his mother Leah, 66 and his sister Hannah, 33, at their Golders Green home in August 2017.

Instead of a criminal trial, a trial of issue will now take place at the Old Bailey, where jurors will try to establish whether Mr Cohen caused the unlawful deaths of the pair, rather than whether he is guilty of a crime.

Mr Cohen appeared in Hendon Magistrates' Court on August 14 last year. During that hearing, he was unrepresented and merely gave his name and address.

The address he gave then was the same as the place where the two bodies were found in August.
