The veteran rapper Ice Cube has refused to apologise for sharing  openly antisemitic images and conspiracy theories on his Twitter page, claiming: “I only speak for the meek people of the earth.’’

The former NWA star sparked anger last weekend after he tweeted an image of the antisemitic mural depicting Jewish bankers seated around a Monopoly board resting on the backs of black men. The mural had been painted on a wall in London’s Tower Hamlets before being removed after an outcry.

Ice Cube – who has 5.3 million Twitter followers – refused to apologise for posting the image and instead tweeted an image depicting an occult “black box” symbol inside a black Star of David.

Some immediately messaged the rapper expressing disgust at the post -  but others praised him and posted other images suggesting that the “black box” contained a code which unlocked evidence that Jews are responsible for events such as 9/11 and Covid 19.

The rapper – who earlier this week expressed support for Black Lives Matters demonstrators in Bristol who removed the statue of slave trader Edward Colston - also shared images depicting QAnon - a far-right conspiracy theory which claims the Trump administration is secretly working to take down the “deep state”.

He then posted a doctored photograph of Egyptian statues that have been linked to a Russian propaganda site named Black Matters.

The author Roxane Gay was among those to condemn Ice Cube, writing that it was “impossible to take you seriously with regards social justice or anything when you post antisemitic imagery”.

But the actor Michael Rapaport attempted to defend the rapper, claiming he was “anti-asshole”.

Responding to suggestions his account had been hacked, the rapper wrote: “This is CUBE.

“My account has not been hacked. I speak for no organisation. I only speak for the meek people of the earth. We will not expect crumbles from your table. We have to power of almighty God backing us all over the earth. [sic] NO MORE TALKING. Repent.”

In a second tweet, he wrote: “I will continue to keep our people motivated, informed and provide simple solutions to help solve the problems that America has caused our people. These are my acutel [sic] facts as I see it. You can take it or let it alone.”

After the Jewish bankers mural appeared on a wall in Tower Hamlets, its creator, “Mear One”, wrote on Facebook that ‘’some of the older white Jewish folk had an issue with me portraying their beloved Rothschild or Warburg as the demons they are.’’

After protests the mural was removed. But former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn sparked fury when he defended Mear One.

Last Saturday, Ice Cube tweeted the image writing;''‘F*** THE NEW NORMAL UNTIL THEY FIX THE OLD NORMAL!’'

Ice Cube has a long history of posting controversial images and messages about Jews – stretching back to claims that rap group NWA’s former manager Jerry Heller, who is Jewish, conned them out of royalties.

On NWA’s 1991 album Death Certificate, the track No Vaseline including lyrics that attacked their manager as a “white Jew” and “the devil”.

Following his success with NWA, Ice Cube has become a dedicated supporter of Nation of Islam led by Louis Farrakhan, who is notorious for making antisemitic comments.
