The Emmy 2017 nominations were announced last night, and a number of Jewish actors and actresses are among those shortlisted for the prestigious TV awards.
Carrie Fisher, who died last December, was posthumously nominated in the category of Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in British sitcom Catastrophe.
Liev Schreiber, the star of crime drama Ray Donovan, has been nominated in the category of Drama Actor, for his role as the show’s protagonist. Hank Azaria has been nominated for Guest Actor for a Drama Series for his role in the same show.
Meanwhile, Evan Rachel Wood, has been nominated in the Drama Actress category for her role in Westworld.
In the comedy categories, Jewish actor Jeffrey Tambor has been nominated for the Comedy Actor award for his role in Transparent, a comedy drama in which he plays a transgender professor. Pamela Adlon has been nominated for Comedy Actress for her role as working actress Sam Fox in Better Things, the comedy drama she created with comedian Louis CK.
Jackie Hoffman has been nominated for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in Feud: Bette and Joan, in which she plays Mamacita, Joan Crawford’s housekeeper.
And the Late Late Show with James Corden has been nominated in the Variety Talk Series category. The show, which is produced by former Leeds JSoc chair Ben Winston, won two Emmys last year, for Outstanding Interactive Programme and Outstanding Variety Special.
The awards ceremony is due to take place on September 17.
