Two teenagers have been arrested after a Jewish cemetery in Manchester was desecrated.

The attack at the Rochdale Road cemetery – in which swastikas covered tombstones and 40 headstones were pushed over, causing an estimated £100,000 worth of damage – was described as “sickening” by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Police – who had been working with the Community Security Trust - have confirmed that two 13-year-old boys were arrested on Friday on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence.

They have been released on bail until July 25.
