Teen dies in Finchley road tragedy

articlemain

The teenage son of a Hatton Garden businessman has died after being hit by a car.

Would-be boxer Jourdan Deal, 19, was hit by a Renault Clio as he crossed Regent's Park Road, Finchley, on Friday.

He was a student at Regent's Park Business College and the son of Jonathan Deal, owner of the Heart of Hatton Garden jewellery store, who lives in Finchley with his wife Susan.

Jourdan lived with his mother Renee Taubi and his stepfather Albert in Belgravia. In a tribute, his family said: "All of us are devastated. He was a sweet-natured, caring boy, who had no meanness in him. He was always joking around, pulling people's legs. It took him a while to find the right path, but he was finally doing something he really liked."

Members of his 2007 FZY tour group are planning a fundraising evening for a road safety charity.

Mr Deal was alone at the time of the accident. Police spoke to the driver of the car, but no arrests were made.

Aunt Linda Deal-Hasson said: "He was to everyone, a best friend. He made everyone feel they were the centre of his world. And only since his parting do we realise how many people he made feel that way."

Another aunt, Diana Golan, said: "An army of Jourdan's friends, the crew, the brothers, have appeared in our lives and have filled our evenings till the early hours with stories of our darling nephew. They have brought some colour back into our lives and we are so grateful for this opportunity to get to know him through their eyes."
