The Jewish Labour Movement has condemned Chris Williamson over his plans to speak at numerous events during party conference next month, describing them as “inappropriate on every level”.

The Derby North MP, who is suspended from Labour over his repeated interventions in the party's antisemitism crisis, announced that he would address members at several fringe events during the conference in Brighton in September.

The parliamentary chair of the Jewish Labour Movement told The Independent that his presence at the conference would be “inappropriate on every level.”

Stoke-on-Trent North MP Ruth Smeeth said: “No one in the Labour Party should be sharing a platform with members who are suspended in relation to antisemitism.
