Police have charged a man in connection to the closure of the LL Camps in Bushey , Hertfordshire.
Ben Lewis, who is Jewish, was due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court this morning.
The 25-year-old, from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, has been charged with three offences in connection with indecent images of children.
He is accused of “making indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child” – this offence includes copying or downloading indecent images from the internet and does not necessarily mean that the individual charged has taken the photographs themselves.
Mr Lewis, the director of LL Camps, was arrested last Wednesday. The camp, which is popular with Jewish families, was shut down the following day .
The privately-run American style camp in Bushey has had its registration suspended by Ofsted.
A Hertfordshire police spokesman said: “Specialist officers and staff from Hertfordshire Constabulary and Hertfordshire County Council remain involved to handle any specific concerns of parents and any other information relevant to this enquiry.”
He added: “This matter is now subject to court proceedings which must be allowed to progress unimpeded by speculation – particularly that on social media – which could impede the justice process.
“If you have any information which you think may be relevant to this police investigation please call Hertfordshire Police on 101.
“If you have any general concerns about your child’s welfare, contact Hertfordshire County Council on 0300 123 4043 and ask to make a referral to Children’s Services.”
In a statement, Mr Lewis’s co-director of LL Camps, Tal Landsman, thanked parents “for their kind and supportive words” and asked “everyone to please respect me and my family” at this time.
