Rabbi Thomas Salamon, an emeritus rabbi of Westminster Synagogue in London, officiated at a star-studded wedding ceremony for model and designer Sofia Richie, 24, youngest daughter of the singer Lionel Richie, and the music business executive Elliot Grainge.
The traditionally Jewish wedding took place in Antibes, in the south of France at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc. Sofia converted to Judaism and told vogue.com that “It was very important to Elliot’s family and to me, now that I’ve converted, that it be a traditional Jewish ceremony.

“Legally we had to get married in the States beforehand, so right before [we left for France], we got married at home with just our parents. We read our vows then because we felt it was very personal, something for just our families to hear and experience in the privacy of our home.”

Diamond expert Maxwell Stone estimated that her diamond wedding band was worth around £25,000, £335,000 less than her emerald cut engagement ring.
Elliot Grainge, 30, is the son of the chairman and chief executive of the Universal Music Group, Sir Lucian Grainge, and his late wife Samantha Berg. Sir Lucian was knighted in 2016 and is said to be one of the most powerful men in the music business. Elliot is the founder of a music company called 10K Projects.

The Grainge and Richie families have been friends for more than 20 years and so the couple knew each other for a long time. Lionel Richie, who walked his daughter down the aisle, sang two of his best-known songs at the wedding reception: “Hello” and “Stuck on You” — both Sofia’s favourites. Her elder sister, socialite Nicole Richie, chaired all the speeches at the reception.
The bride’s several outfits for the wedding weekend included Chanel dresses, planned by celebrity stylist Liat Baruch.
