The Scottish National Party has barred a party activist from taking part in campaigns after his antisemitic Facebook posts were revealed.
Amjed Hussain, who campaigned alongside First Minister Nicola Sturgeon during her manifesto launch for this week’s election, has shared a video which alleged that Mossad carried out the 9/11 terrorist hijackings.
He has also posted an image which claimed Daesh had not attacked Israel “because the dog does not bite its own tail” and another which said “Israel has no history - only a criminal record”.
A spokesman for the SNP, which formed a majority government after last year’s general election, was at pains to emphasise that Mr Hussain was not a member of the party.
He added: “These views are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect those of the SNP, and we have instructed local campaign teams to ensure this individual takes no further part in the election campaign.’’
