A Manchester crowd raises £100K for WJR projects

World Jewish Relief’s Manchester committee attracted over 200 supporters to its fundraising dinner. Guest speaker Stephen Smith, co-founder of the Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre in Nottinghamshire, spoke about its work and his move to the US to become chief executive at Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation. Former Minsk resident Nikita Yakubovsky, who now lives in Manchester, spoke about the Belarus community’s needs. The event, held at the Lowry, raised £100,000 for WJR.
