Shimon Peres will be the guest speaker at the Zionist Federation’s gala dinner in London in May.
The former Israeli president will be honoured by the charity with a special tribute night in front of an expected 1,000 diners.
Mr Peres, who retired as Israel’s head of state in July last year, has not spoken in Britain since 2008.
ZF director Alan Aziz said: “One of the most recognisable Israelis of all time, Peres’ life is inextricably connected with the history of the Jewish state.
“He is known not only for his longevity but for constantly championing progress and optimism. His presence at our event will be especially poignant for the ZF since our former president, Chaim Weizmann, was also the first president of Israel”.
The event will take place on Sunday, May 17, in central London.
