Personal stylist Sara Segal has a smart new job. The 24-year-old has been appointed customer fashion advisor at Asos.com — the UK’s largest online-only fashion group.
Miss Segal, who runs her own style and shopping advice service, Personal Style London, will answer fashion queries and help browsers find the right outfit for their shape in a new feature called “Style Edit: Ask Sara, our style advisor”. The service is part of the site’s new, interactive section called Asos Life, designed to get consumers talking to each other and revolutionise the way people shop online.
She tells People: “Initially it will be in question-and-answer format where shoppers post their individual questions and I reply by blog. It has a lot of scope and can be expanded in time. The blog is also a platform for customers to talk to Asos directly and interact with fellow shoppers.”
Graduating from Leeds University, she founded Personal Syle London in 2007. She previously managed a small chain of clothing boutiques before training in colour and style analysis. Any free tips? “If you are bigger on top, then wear patterns and detail at the bottom, as that will draw the eye down. You should also define your waist to give an hour-glass figure. Those who wear smaller sizes are better suited to more structured clothes.” Miss Segal, who lives in Stanmore, Middlesex, says common queries include how one can look trendy without appearing as if one has tried too hard, and where to find high street versions of celebrity outfits.
