Londoners will get the chance to see what so impressed the secretary-general of the United Nations when Israeli pop star Rita comes to town next month.
The Iranian-born singer, whose full name is Rita Yahan-Farouz, performed at the UN General Assembly in March where she was praised by Ban Ki-moon.
Now she is gearing up for a show at the London Hilton Metropole on December 12, when she will be singing songs from her My Joys album. “I hope Jews and non-Jews, Israelis and Iranians come to see me perform,” she said.
Rita has a loyal following in Israel and is hugely popular in Iran, particularly among women, despite official disapproval of her music.
