Giles Coren's new BBC Two series Back in Time for Dinner features a family reliving the eating habits of previous decades.

In the first episode, the Robshaws had to cope with a meagre post-War diet until rationing ended and they could tuck into such treats as breakfast rashers. But then came the rabbi-blushing moment as mother Rochelle confessed, over a sizzling pan, "I'm actually Jewish, I don't normally do bacon and eggs."
