Reform movement issues prayer for Balfour

The Reform movement has issued a prayer to be recited by its congregations in commemoration of the centenary of the Balfour Declaration.

Composed by its Senior Rabbi, Laura Janner-Klausner, it proclaims the “intimate connection of our tradition and heritage with the Land of Israel”.

It expresses the wish to work towards establishing peace and security between Israel and its neighbours; strengthening Israel as a “thriving Jewish homeland, welcoming those from all traditions and backgrounds”; and promoting “the rights of all people living in Israel and the territories under its control”.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has produced a prayer to be said by Orthodox congregations on Shabbat.
